Gianni Iorio
Gianni Iorio was born in Foggia on 1972. He achieved his musical studies at "U. Giordano" Conservatory of Music graduating himself in piano with the highest mark and the Mention of honor.
Since the first months of study he won numerous piano competitions and national and international competitions of Chamber Music. The most important are "A.M.A. Calabria" from Lamezia Terme (editions 1983 and 1991), Sannicandro Garganico, St. Ferdinando from Puglia, Barletta, Caserta, "G.B. Pergolesi" from Naples, "Agorà 80" from Rome, "Euterpe" from Corato, "I. Strawinsky" from Bari, 3° International Music Competition "M. Polivineo Tribute" from Teramo, "Joseph Vignali" from Verucchio, "City of Vasto", "Franz Schubert " from Tagliolo Monferrato, International Competition "Lario in music" from Varenna. He partecipated at many concerts in the more important Theaters and Jazz clubs of Europe.
On 1994 he received the nomination of "Student of the year" by the Direction of the Conservatory, and got a scholarship devoted to American composer J. Cage and as soloist with the Symphonic orchestra "U. Giordano" of Foggia. He attended numerous improvement courses with famous piano teacher like Massimo Bertucci, Jorg Demus, Carlo Bruno, Franco Scala and Sergio Perticaroli.
Since 2004 he has been undertaken a great musical activity as bandoneón player with many concerts in the most prestigious italian theaters (Theater Eliseo of Rome, Barberini Palace, Regio Theater in Turin, Theater of Bolzano etc..). Then he praised important collaborations with musicians of international fame like Gustavo Toker, Roberto Ottaviano, Javier Girotto, Gabriele Mirabassi, Natalio Mangalavite, Coky and Pajarin Saavedra brothers, Alfredo Marcucci.
He recorded for the following record labels: Real Sound, RAI and Philology. Actually he is the first bandoneón player of the " Alfred Marcucci’s tango typical Great Orchestra” at the Regio Theater in Turin.
